Starship Farragut is an independent film series based on the original series of Star Trek. Starship Farragut focusses on the crew of the U.S.S. Farragut, a Constitution Class Starship (NCC-1647) commanded by Captain John T. Carter, and takes place during the time of legendary Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise (NCC-1701).

How can I help out with Starship Farragut?

The project headquarters is located in the Greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, with standing sets located in St. Marys, Georgia. Casting is done in connection with specific productions prior to setting up rehearsal dates. We have behind the scenes positions available on an ongoing basis. People with skills in various aspects of video (i.e., digital editing, post production, CGI), film or theater production can volunteer to help out. We are especially seeking individuals with experience in stage lighting, sound and camera work, and costuming. If you would like to volunteer, please include your name and contact information in an email describing your area of expertise and/or interest to Holly Bednar in our Casting and Human Resources department. She may be reached through our "Contact Us" page. You may be asked to send and resume and head shot for on- camera positions and you will be contacted if we would like to pursue your involvement or invite you to audition.

Can I donate to Starship Farragut?

Yes! Starship Farragut is accepting financial donations. Donations of gift cards from Home Depot or Lowe's are also welcome and will be used for materials used in set construction, props and costumes. Donors who contribute will receive a complimentary DVD of the latest film release as a gift of appreciation. Those wishing to donate should see our "Donations" page for more information. All donations will be used by Starship Farragut for the sole purposes of production costs, set construction and repair, prop construction and repair, and costuming. Farragut Films, Inc. is a NON-PROFIT entity (501C3), and your donation can be claimed as a charitable contribution on your tax return.

Is Starship Farragut violating any Copyright Laws?

Starship Farragut has taken great care to assert that they are in no way attempting to infringe upon CBS Studios Inc. copyright and trademark rights with respect to Star Trek. Starship Farragut is free for you to download and distribute for private, non-commercial viewing. However be aware that Starship Farragut is fully protected by Federal and State Copyright Law. Unauthorized tampering, altering, or creating of derivative works from the show, its characters, or any images or audio contained therein is strictly prohibited and subject to civil and criminal penalties under the law. DO NOT make copies and sell them. If the producers, cast and crew can't make money from the show, neither should you! Who does the music for Starship Farragut, and how do I get a copy of it?

Almost all of our trailers and episodes have an original musical score to them.

Our first episode ("The Captaincy") was scored by John Seguin. The original soundtrack to this episode can be purchased through his web site (seguinsound.com).

Can I submit my own script or suggestions to the show?

Starship Farragut welcomes scripts and story treatments from others. For those interested, please forward your script to Farragut Films' Executive Assistant, Michael Day at MDay@starshipfarragut.com. Michael will ensure the management team receives the scripts, which will then be discussed and voted upon. Be aware that any and all script submissions become the property of Starship Farragut /Farragut Films. The characters in Starship Farragut are the intellectual property of Starship Farragut and its parent company, Farragut Films, and are fully protected by Federal and State Copyright Law and may not be used without the express written permission of Farragut Films. Unauthorized use, tampering, altering, or creating of derivative works from the episodes, characters, or any images or audio contained therein is strictly prohibited and subject to civil and criminal penalties under the law.

How long does it take you to film an episode?

It all depends on the length of the project that we are filming, the number of sets required, availability of actors and crew (which is done on an all-volunteer basis), weather (for exterior filming), and filming locations. However, producing an episode of Starship Farragut is, by no means, a small undertaking. A lot of work has to be done before the camera can roll. This work includes pre-production, set construction, casting, costume design and fittings, prop construction and schedule coordination. Most of the work on our show currently occurs after work and on the weekends, which draws out the time required to some extent. For example, "For Want of a Nail" required approximately ten days of actual filming, however, those ten days were spread out over an eight month period. Once the filming was completed, the episode went in to post-production for editing, special effects, sound and music. Total production time for the episode was just about sixteen months.
